How do I configure the timesheet template?

Configure the timesheet template using this step-by-step guide for setting up and customizing your timesheet format.

In this step-by-step article, we will be showcasing how to extend timesheets using templates. Templates are a powerful tool that underlies a lot of BuildPass modules. It allows you to add any number of question types to any particular module.

Step 1: Access the Default Timesheet

Start by accessing a regular timesheet with a default template. By default, the timesheet only asks for the date, number of hours, time type, and status (if submitted by an admin).

Step 2: Configure the Template

To configure the template, go to the template configuration page. Add a group and a block, then pick any number of things you want to add to the timesheet. You can add single selects, drop-downs, signatures, texts, files, and more.

In this example, we will add a single select that prompts the user to answer yes, no, or not applicable. To do this, click on the "Add Single Select" button and select "Yes/No/NA" from the dropdown list. Add a testing option as well.

Note: The template configuration is only available to the BuildPass admin team for now. In the future, this will be something that you can configure yourself. If you have a custom template that needs to be requested as part of the timesheet, let the team know.

Step 3: Save the Template

Once you have finished configuring the template, save it and refresh the page.

Step 4: Submit the Timesheet

When a worker or an admin submits the timesheet, the template will now appear at the bottom of the page. Select the worker, choose the date, and then add any number of fields, attachments, and notes.

Step 5: Save and Submit

After filling out the necessary fields, click on the "Create" button to save the timesheet. Refresh the page to make sure it is properly submitted.

Step 6: Review the Timesheet

To review the timesheet, access the list of timesheets and locate the one you just submitted. Click on it to review the details.

Step 7: Extend the Timesheet

To extend the timesheet, go back to the template configuration page and make the necessary changes. Save the template, refresh the page, and submit a new timesheet.

In summary, extending timesheets using templates is a powerful tool that allows you to add any number of question types to any particular module. With the ability to add single selects, drop-downs, signatures, texts, and files, you can customise the timesheet to fit your needs. Follow the steps above to configure the template and submit the timesheet.
