How do I create an action item?

Learn how to create an action item in BuildPass. This article provides step-by-step instructions to help you set up action items, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and tracked for efficient project management.

Step 1: Access Project Overview

To start, make sure you are logged into your project management platform and navigate to the project overview page. This page should display all the relevant information and tasks related to the project you are working on.

Step 2: Access the Actions Section

Within the project overview page, locate the "Actions" section. It should be a dedicated area for managing and tracking actions related to the project.

Step 3: Create a New Action

Click on the "Create Action" button or a similar option to initiate the action creation process.

Step 4: Fill in Action Details

  • A form or pop-up window should appear where you can enter the details of the new action. Start by giving the action a descriptive title to clearly indicate what the action is about.
  • Select the appropriate type for the action from a drop-down menu.
  • Choose the status or state of the action. "To do" indicates that this action needs to be completed.
  • Specify the priority level for the action. You may have options such as "high," "medium," or "low."
  • Enter the due date for the action, indicating when it should be completed. Use the provided date picker to select the appropriate date.
  • Designate an assignee for the action. This is the person or team responsible for completing the action. Choose the appropriate subcontractor from the list of available options.

Step 5: Optional - Add a Picture

If relevant, you can include a picture that provides more context or visual information about the action. Use the "Add Picture" or similar button to upload the image.

Step 6: Create the Action

Double-check all the entered details to ensure accuracy. Once you are satisfied, click the "Create Action" or "Save" button to finalise the action creation process. You should receive a confirmation message indicating that the action has been successfully created.

Step 7: Send a Reminder (Optional)

If necessary, you can set up a reminder to prompt the assignee about the action's due date or any other important information. Click on the "Send Reminder" or similar option to configure and send the reminder.
