How do I generate a report of defects?

In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the process of exporting defects from your dashboard. Exporting defects is a convenient way to create a list of issues or problems that need to be addressed in a project.

Step 1: Accessing Your Dashboard

Begin by logging into your project management dashboard. Once you are logged in, navigate to the dashboard home page.

Step 2: Selecting the Project

Look for the project you are currently working on. Click on the project to access its details.

Step 3: Accessing the Defects Section

After entering the project details page, locate the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen. Scroll down until you find the "Defects" section, and then click on it.

Step 4: Viewing Existing Defects

In the Defects section, you will see a list of defects that have already been recorded for this project.

Step 5: Adding a New Defect

If you want to add a new defect to the list, click on the "Add Defect" or "New Defect" button, depending on the platform's interface. Provide a name for the defect and choose whether to assign it to a subcontractor for fixing.

Step 6: Uploading a Screenshot

To enhance clarity, you can add a photo or screenshot of the defect. Click on the option to add a photo, select the relevant screenshot from your computer, and upload it.

Step 7: Marking Up the Screenshot

Once the photo is uploaded, you can edit it and mark the exact location of the defect. This will help subcontractors easily identify and address the issue. After marking up the screenshot, save the changes.

Step 8: Saving and Finishing

Save the new defect entry by clicking on the "Save" button. Then, click on the "Save and Finish" or equivalent button to confirm and finalise the defect entry.

Step 9: Exporting Defects

After entering all the necessary defects, return to the list of defects. Select the defects you want to export by clicking on each one or choose the option to export all of them.

Step 10: Downloading the Defects as a PDF

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, look for the download icon (usually represented by an arrow pointing downward). Click on this icon to initiate the export process.

A new tab will open, and the defects will be downloaded as a PDF file. Depending on your browser settings, the file may be saved automatically or prompt you to choose a download location.

Step 11: Save or Print the PDF

Now that the defects have been exported to a PDF file, you can choose to print it or save it for future reference. Use the appropriate options available in your PDF viewer to perform the desired action.

Exporting defects from your dashboard is a useful feature that allows you to create a comprehensive list of issues in your project. By following these simple steps, you can efficiently generate a PDF file containing the defects, making it easier to share, review, and address them with your team or subcontractors.
