Enabling Geolocation for Android

In this article we cover how to enable geolocation on BuildPass if you missed the prompts to do this the first time you signed in. If you are unable to toggle on "Geofenced Projects" this article will show you how to make this option work for you.

  1. Accessing Geofence Projects in App Settings
    • Open the BuildPass app on your device.
    • Navigate to the app's settings.
    • Find the 'Geofence Projects' option. Note: It might be turned off by default
  2. Identifying the Issue with Geofence Projects
    • Try to enable 'Geofence Projects'.
    • If it's not enabling and says location permissions are needed, this indicates the need to change device settings.
  3. Modifying Location Permissions on Android Device (Google Pixel Example)
    • Access the task manager on your device.
    • Long-press on the BuildPass app icon and select 'App Info'.
    • This opens the app settings (alternatively accessible through device settings).
  4. Changing Location Permissions in App Settings
    • Scroll to 'Permissions' within the app settings.
    • Find 'Location' which will be listed as 'Not Allowed'.
    • Tap on 'Location' and select 'Allow all the time' for uninterrupted functionality
  5. Verifying Location Access and Returning to BuildPass App
    • Return to the BuildPass app.
    • Confirm that location access has been granted.
  6. Enabling Geofence Projects Feature
    • Navigate to the 'Profile' section in the bottom right of the app.
    • Access 'Settings' located at the top.
    • With permissions enabled, toggle on the 'Geofence Projects' option.
